Sow Management | 13 November | 10.00 - 11.30 CET
An often-heard motto is ‘getting it right from the start’. When applying that to piglets, it basically means that the red carpet should be rolled out even before birth. After all, if their mothers had everything they needed in terms of nutrition, health and welfare, the care they can give to their offspring is top-notch quality as well. Interestingly, the same applies to sows, hence the increasing attention for the early life of gilts, too. This seminar will shed plenty of light on all aspects.
Our speakers
Gut Health | 13 November | 12.00 - 13.30 CET
Sustainability & Welfare | 13 November | 14.00 - 15.30 CET
The pig’s gut is where virtually all disciplines of pig science meet. Think about it – this is where the nutrition for the pigs is absorbed and where bacteria and pathogens can begin to challenge the health of the pig. Also, feed efficiency remains is major component in pig genetics. What is less known, however, is that gut health also has a behavioural component. There is plenty of reason, therefore, to prominently include the theme of Gut Health at the 2024 edition of EuroTier.
Climate change, stricter welfare legislation, European directives – for pig producers across Europe and around the world, it sometimes looks like legal and societal demands on conventional swine production never stop. Now, which comments are reasonable? What is acceptable? Which developments are a mere whim? And which ones are here to stay? This seminar considers thoughts and ideas about where production may be header in the future.
