This year, Pig Progress once again hosted engaging seminars at EuroTier in Hannover, live and in person at the show. Our editor, Vincent ter Beek, led seminars on pig sow management, gut health, and sustainability and welfare. Starting November 20, these seminars will be available to watch online for free. Sow Management
An often-heard motto is ‘getting it right from the start.’ When applied to piglets, this means rolling out the red carpet even before birth. After all, if their mothers had everything they needed in terms of nutrition, health, and welfare, the care they could provide to their offspring would also be of top-notch quality. Interestingly, the same principle applies to sows, which explains the increasing attention to the early life of gilts as well. This seminar shed plenty of light on all these aspects. Starting November 20, the seminar will be available to watch online for free.

Gut Health
Sustainability & Welfare
The pig’s gut is where virtually all disciplines of pig science converge. This is where nutrition is absorbed and where bacteria and pathogens could challenge the pig's health. Additionally, feed efficiency has long been a major component in pig genetics. What is less widely known, however, is that gut health also has a behavioral component. For these reasons, the theme of Gut Health was prominently included in the 2024 edition of EuroTier. Starting November 20, the seminar on this topic will be available to watch online for free.
Climate change, stricter welfare legislation, European directives – for pig producers across Europe and around the world, it sometimes looks like legal and societal demands on conventional swine production never stop. Now, which comments are reasonable? What is acceptable? Which developments are a mere whim? And which ones are here to stay? This seminar considers thoughts and ideas about where production may be header in the future.
